Jardim Botanico

Saturday morning, Joseph and I, along with Mirka and Vinicius, went to the Jardim Botanico and had a great time. Check out this awesom cactus we found. It is spirially. In this awesome cactus garden, we also met some new friends from Germany. They looked like tourists. I am starting to spot them out. I sure hope I am blending in a little.

Here is Joseph after a long day of walking through gardens. He kept saying, "okay gente..." I am not sure what it means but by his tone, I think he was ready to go home. I think I could have spent all week there. I just love being in the outdoors surrounded by nature. It was a breath of fresh air to get out of the city streets which were just on the other side of the gate.

The gardens were made centuries ago by Portugal's king, when Brazil was still under their empire. And this place was his retreat. The are some of the original palm trees (behind the fountain). They have to be the 2nd tallest tree I have ever seen (first would be the California sequoias).

And here is Joseph's favorite part of the day. Turtles. I think he would have them as a pet if I let him.
