Stake Confrence

A couple of weeks ago was Stake Confrence. I wasn't looking forward to such an event because I wouldn't be able to understand anything. So asked Joseph if we could skip the adult session. He agreed and so we made plans to go to Copacabana Beach for a nice sunny day. It was going to be great. As we were loading up our beach bag and already in our swimming suits, Joseph's old mission companion and local Rio friend, Neves, called up to ask if we wanted to go ice skating with him and his wife after confence. Oops. We were caught. So we took it as a sign and said we would love to. So we didn't go to the beach, instead we did what we were supposed to do.

Confrence, even though I couldn't understand it (Joseph is not to good at staying focused when translating), turned out to be absolutely quite nice. From what I gathered from it (the parts Joseph relayed on) it was incredible at how a message that is a common topic in the church can have such a different meaning when I am outside the "Utah Bubble" and in the world. A simple topic as the divine nature of women had so much more meaning to me as I am in Brazil. It was a very powerful conference! It was also a testimony builder as I watched Elder Scott speak portuguese and watch President Eyring's lips move but hearing a different language. The church is world-wide and is true no matter what part of the world you happen to be in. I am so blessed!
