December 2013 Happenings

Tonight, Avannie and I went to the annual Nativity Pageant held at the church while Joseph (who was not feeling well) stayed home with Sadie.  On the drive home, I hear this from the backseat, "Mom, my eyes are heavy.  It feels like guys carrying big buckets are walking on them.  ... not in the middle but on the top."  what???  Where does she come up with this?  How I love the imagination of a 4 yr old.

Sadie insisted that I tie her baby to her back.  The requests that I get from her crack me up.

We spent several hours at the auto-mechanic shop last week.  And Avannie was entertained the entire time by a box of crayons and a drawing book of paper.  We have some great new portraits of the family that include Baby Katelyn be held in mom's arms.

This might be wierd but while Avannie was completely entertained by the crayons, I tried everything to keep Sadie occupied.  She figured out how to take pictures with my phone, so I have several  pictures of very random things from the mechanic's waiting room, but this one tops her skills.  "Mommy, Baby Kate picture?"  She knew she wanted a picture of Baby Kate so thats what you get - a lovely portrait of my ever growing belly.  :)

Once again, Avannie is coloring.  This time, I am teaching her how to color the Nativity scene.  How I love watching her do this!

While making dinner the other day, Avannie came up the idea to go to the pool with Sadie.  The "pool" was in the dining room.  And here they are, ready for the splash!  Dressed for a hot summer day, yet it was 17 degrees outside.

Last night was the first big snow storm of the year so we made a morning of it!  Yes, we were 20 minutes late to church because of our outdoor adventures, but today, it was worth it.  As Joseph snow-blowed the driveway, I was helping with the shovel.  Avannie and Sadie were playing in the new snow.  At one point, Avannie asked if I could help make Snow Angels.  Of course!  Sadie (still a bit hesitant to leave the clear walk-ways) finally wanted to make one too after watching Avy and me.  And while she was trying so hard to move her little arms and legs in all those layers, Joseph decided to join us!  In our front yard is a family of snow angels.  It was by far the best part of my day to be together in the snow.  And it was worth being 20 minutes late for church.

Here is our family's gift bag this year:  Avannie's little hand print made into a Christmas Tree!
