Rocinha

I went with a sister in the ward to Barra (about 30 minutes away) and the drive was so fascinating. I can't even describe it. We passed one of the biggest favelas in the area. A favela is a neighborhood/slum of the poorest of poor. They are like their own community. They are very dangerous for outsiders, but if you are apart of that favela, they are the safest places to be. But if you aren't apart of it, they will literally kill you. Yep so I say away and look at it from the car at a distance. Here is a picture of a part of it. The name of this one is Rocinha. It is enormous. This is a picture of only part of it. But you can kind of get the picture of how they just build on top of each other. It is a pretty humble place.
