Saara (translated: Desert)

My new friend, Mirka, took me to the Saara (desert) yesterday and let me tell you, it was nothing like a desert of nothing. It was miles/kilometers of shopping! I am normally not the shopping type, but when you can get 3 new shirts for R$35.00 (about $20.68) that is a bargin - and you know i love a good deal. But don't think it was easy, because all the clothing are not the most modest of things, if you know what I mean... I am glad for Down East because of their shirts that I can wear under all my new purchaces - otherwise the G's wouldn't be too attractive to see. :) Slowly I am becoming more and more Brazilian. I even have their kinds of shoes now, which is good because my chacos stood out. Now if only I can think of a way to disquise my blue eyes.... sunglasses.

If you have ever read Harry Potter, Saara reminds me of Diagon Alley - a street full of shops and things and completely crowded with people. And through all the mess of people, we actually saw a sister who was wearing a missionary tag! Can you believe it? We followed her for about a block until we caught up with her. She was a service missionary who works at the employment office. that would explain why she didn't have a companion close by. Of all the millions of people here, we saw one of our kind. It was a good sight to see.
